While there are many third-party password management tools, the most effective and secure “tools” to remove saved credentials from Google Chrome are built directly into the browser itself or provided by Google. They ensure that data is completely cleared from both your local device and your synced Google account.
Here are the top 3 ways to clear saved credentials in Chrome:
1. Chrome’s Built-in “Delete Browsing Data” Tool (Best for Mass Deletion)This is the most direct way to wipe all saved passwords at once.
How: Click the three dots in the top-right corner, select More tools > Delete browsing data (or click the three dots > Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data).
Action: Go to the “Advanced” tab, select “All time” in the time range, check “Passwords and other sign-in data,” and click Delete data.
2. Google Password Manager (Best for Targeted Deletion)If you want to view, manage, and delete specific credentials for specific websites, this is the best tool.
How: Click the three dots > Passwords and autofill > Google Password Manager.
Action: Browse the list, select the entry, and click Delete.
Tip: You can also go to Settings directly within the Password Manager to “Delete all” data.

3. Chrome Sync/Account Sign-out (Best for Complete Account Removal)If you are using Chrome with a Google Account, passwords are often synced to the cloud. Clearing them locally might not remove them from other devices. How: Click your profile icon > Manage your Google Account.
Action: You can either pause sync in Chrome settings or go to the Google Password Manager website and clear all data there to ensure the deletion syncs across all your devices. Important Notes:
Always ensure you are clearing data in the “Advanced” tab of the settings to ensure all types of sign-in data are removed.
For mobile devices, navigate to Settings > Passwords to select and delete credentials.
